Westside Drywall has provided great service and fullfilled the project bid completely. In particular, Corey has given us great project management and delivered exactly as described. When friends ask for remodel referrals, I will tell them Westside Drywall and give them Corey's phone number.
Improved weatherization is one of the best investments a homeowner can make. Not only do you gain comfort and energy savings, but your home will also become more valuable to buyers, you will make a positive impact on the environment and you will extend the life of expensive heating and cooling systems in your home.
For homeowners in our region – Portland, Seattle and Vancouver – we usually recommend starting with weatherization before any other service.
Benefits of Weatherizing Your Home for the Pacific Northwest Climate
- Comfort – more consistent temperatures and improved indoor air quality (fewer allergies)
- Durability – extended life for your home heating and cooling systems, and even the structure of your home
- Energy savings – greater efficiency in the home will lead to reduced monthly utility bills
The initial goal is to provide the best solution for you, the customer. Whatever your motivation, we provide top-notch service using locally sourced materials and local labor. We check in to make sure you are happy throughout the process.
What to Expect from a Westside Drywall Weatherization Upgrade
We'll set up an appointment with you to evaluate your home. During the scheduling process, we'll also talk with you about Energy Trust of Oregon incentives. Many of our customers learn about us via the Energy Trust website – or from a neighbor who has participated in this program. It's a great way to get your weatherization work completed with additional savings. We'll even submit the Energy Trust paperwork for you!
Free Walk-Through with our Expert Staff
The first step in your home evaluation is what we call a "clipboard audit." This is a free, 1-hour walk-through of the house to determine some of the most obvious weatherization needs. Our technician will talk with you about hot and cold spots in the home, energy usage and all your home performance concerns.
Full Energy Efficiency Evaluation
If your weatherization upgrade is fairly straightforward, we can provide an estimate for the entire job immediately after the clipboard audit. If the improvements are looking more comprehensive and involved, we'll set up a full-house audit that will include an in-depth look at every corner of the structure along with specialized testing. There is a cost for this service, but we can usually offset the cost with Energy Trust rebates.
Westside has in-house, energy efficient building scientists who can do forensics and energy analysis. Other companies in the region simply don’t have that level of expertise.
Insulation and Air Sealing – The Keys to Home Weatherization
After determining your home's exact needs and signing a work contract, the Westside Drywall team will complete the weatherization itself, including air sealing and insulation.
Air Sealing Services
It's amazing how much air leaks in and out of most homes in the Portland, Seattle and Vancouver areas. Our climate creates thermal and pressure effects that cause uncomfortable drafts and energy waste throughout a structure. The Westside team addresses this underlying home efficiency problem by filling the hidden gaps and cracks in boundary areas of the home (walls, ceilings and floors).
Proper insulation is an essential part of the energy-efficiency formula, lowering costs and providing comfort year-round. Make insulation upgrades in your home and get Energy Trust cash incentives while you save energy, reduce heating and cooling costs, decrease outside noise and create a more comfortable environment for family and guests. Want to get comfortable? Bring in the Westside team.
Energy Trust cash incentives for insulation upgrades include:
- Ceiling/attic insulation
- Floor insulation
- Wall insulation
- Knee wall insulation
- Rim joist insulation
- Duct insulation
Completing the Job – The Westside Way
Westside Drywall completes every weatherization job with a customer satisfaction follow-up. We want to make sure your home is feeling as comfortable as promised, and that you are in position to save money on your utility bills.
If you chose the comprehensive, whole-home evaluation with testing, we'll "test out" of the home as well. This means we perform a second test after improvements are complete – comparing the numbers and ensuring that we have achieved a measurable change.
A member of the Westside team will also call you for a 12-month follow up (1 year after job completion) to see if you want to check the rest of the boxes on your energy audit, qualifying for additional rebates. Our goal is to make you a customer for life because you are so satisfied with the improvements you've gained.
